METALLICA: Unfinished Doc Gets Road Tryout

Metallica are taking their unfinished documentary on the road with them this spring.

Metallica Saved My Life is a film from director Jonas Akerlund that "explores the world of Metallica through the lives of their fans -- including the bandmembers themselves -- who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumphs for over four decades." The

band adds that "It’s not quite finished yet, but we can’t wait for you to see it and let us know what you think." It will be shown in every tour market except Columbus, Ohio. Tickets are available at FathomEntertainment.com. Check out a trailer on YouTube. Metallica's M72

tour resumes April 19th in Syracuse, New York.

Kurt Cobain's Smashed Guitar Up For Auction

A big (albeit smashed) piece of rock history is up for auction. "TMZ" reports that Kurt Cobain's white Fender Stratocaster, which he used and smashed during Nirvana's 1992 European tour, will be available for bid beginning at 9AM Eastern this morning. The starting bid is $30-thousand, but don't count on scoring it for that price...Another smashed Cobain guitar sold for over $500-thousand in 2023. The guitar, along with other very cool pieces of rock memorabilia

can be bid on here. Good luck!

NIRVANA: Cobain Van Artwork to Be Displayed

The touring van once owned by Seattle band Melvins that has artwork drawn on it by Kurt Cobain will be displayed in Seattle this weekend. The "Melvan" is a 1972 Dodge Sportsman Royal Van served as the main vehicle for Melvins in their early touring days and it features a KISS mural on one side hand-drawn by the late Nirvana frontman using Sharpie markers. The van will be displayed as part of Saturday's Record Store Day festivities at two local stores -- Easy Street Records and Silver Platters. After the weekend, the van will be cut into pieces and the Cobain mural part will go up for bids as part of Julien's Auctions' “Music Icons” sale, set for May 30th and 31st in New York City.

31 years ago, yesterday (Tuesday April 8th, 1994), an electrician spotted Kurt Cobian's body in a room above the garage of his Seattle home at 8:40 am [PT]. At 7:05 pm, police confirmed that it was Cobain. The 27-year-old had killed himself with a 20-gauge shotgun three days earlier.

BLACK SABBATH: Beg For Tickets, Become the Host!

Actor Jason Momoa is going to host the Black Sabbath Back to the Begining concert July 5th in Birmingham, England, and it's only because he started pestering people for tickets.

A Minecraft Movie star told NME, “I don’t know how I’m going to host, but I’ll figure it out. I’m just so excited to be there. It’s funny, because I was begging for tickets and now, I turn out to be hosting.” The first person he hit up for tickets? Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett. Hammett told Metal Hammer that Momoa "called me up [about the Sabbath show] like, ‘Can you get me tickets?’ I was like, ‘Bro…’ I had management send a message that Jason Momoa wanted to come to the Sabbath show, and next thing I know we’d been told Sharon Osbourne had called him to ask him to emcee it! It was like, ‘Hell yeah!’" Momoa does have some previous connection to the Ozzy camp -- he filmed a music video for Osbourne's 2020 single "Scary Little Green Man" that was teased on YouTube but never actually released.

Def Leppard fans crown ‘Hysteria’ the band’s greatest anthem of all time

Def Leppard fans have chosen their favorite song through the On Through The Music Bracket Challenge, with "Hysteria" coming out the winner. The band's fourth studio album's title track peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Def Leppard's first top-10 hit. After weeks of fan votes, "Hysteria" was crowned the "greatest Def Leppard anthem of all time" in a rock 'n' roll showdown on the band’s website.

SMASHING PUMPKINS: That'll Work for Karaoke -- and My Funeral

Billy Corgan was asked to pick songs for specific times in his life by The Guardian, and not surprisingly he chose a couple by The Smashing Pumpkins. When he was asked to choose one to have played at his funeral Corgan said, “I’d probably pick one of my own just to make some sort of posthumous, bitter point: ‘You should have paid more attention to me when I was here.’ ‘To Sheila’ from the Adore album by Smashing Pumpkins would be a good one, if you’re sitting there, mourning my loss." As for a favorite karaoke jam, Corgan said, "The last song I did at karaoke was ‘Zero’ by The Smashing Pumpkins. I thought it would be funny to sing my own song, but the longer it went, the more I performed it like I was on stage in front of 50,000 people, and the less people thought it was funny."

ELTON JOHN: Tupperware Connection

Elton John owes Patti Labelle some Tupperware. Appearing on Sherri, she said, "He was my piano player in London, for about a year [in the '60s], when the band he was in, Bluesology, backed her. She invited the band to her apartment to play cards, where she says she "took all their pounds -- all their money,” And since they now had no money, she cooked for them. “They had no food, so I made them food to take home in my Tupperware. So, my Tupperware is very important to me -- I don’t give it out. So, I gave them some food to take back home, and they never paid me back. And I said to Elton, ‘I want my damn Tupperware!’ Two years later Elton invited Patti to his show, which led her to ask, "'Who are you opening for?' He said, 'I’m Elton John now.' I said, ‘Ain’t that a witch?’ He made it before I did, right?!” While the Tupperware remains MIA, he made it up to her in 2005 when he backed her on her recording of his hit "Your Song," and joined her on stage. "He took his rings off and put them on the piano. When we finished, I said ‘Elton, there’s your ring’. He said, ‘That’s your Tupperware.’

She still has the ring, which she says is beautiful.

In other Elton diva news, Madonna says they've buried the hatchet. She writes on Facebook: "I went to see Elton John perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW. "I remembered when I was in high school -- I snuck out of the house one night to see Elton perform live in Detroit! It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music. "Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different -- to stand out -- to take the road less traveled by. In fact, it was essential.

"Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it. I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go. I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, 'Forgive Me' and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging. "Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody, This is Your Song..." The feud dates back to 2004 when Elton criticized Madonna for lip-synching on stage, but he did apologize not long thereafter.
