Aerosmith’s 2025 has been packed with surprises — from joining an all-star Ozzy Osbourne tribute at the VMAs to releasing One More Time, their first new music in over a decade, created in collaboration with Yungblud. In a new interview with Guitar World, guitarist Joe Perry reflected on the whirlwind year and offered a clearer, though still uncertain, glimpse into Aerosmith’s future.

What Did Joe Perry Reveal About Aerosmith’s Future?

Near the end of the interview, Perry was asked whether he and Steven Tyler hope to perform songs from One More Time live, and whether a final Aerosmith show — potentially involving Yungblud — could actually happen.

Perry admitted nothing is set, but said discussions are ongoing:

“We’ve been talking about doing at least one show, tied to a documentary that tells our story,” Perry explained, noting that coordinating schedules has been difficult with Tyler splitting time between coasts, Perry in Florida, and Yungblud touring in Europe.

When asked if he’s ready to view One More Time as Aerosmith’s definitive final chapter, Perry said he avoids thinking in such final terms.

“For 20 years I’ve played every show like it could be the last,” he said. “You just never know what’s coming.”

Perry added that while he personally isn’t retired — and Tyler doesn’t feel retired either — there’s no guarantee the band will take on anything major. Still, he emphasized: “We’ve got some juice left.”

Aerosmith’s uncertainty is understandable. Their 2023 Peace Out farewell tour was canceled in 2024 due to Tyler’s vocal issues, and the band formally stepped back from touring shortly after. Bassist Tom Hamilton previously stated touring is no longer in the cards. Yet Tyler performed a short set at his Janie’s Fund Grammy event earlier this year — a hopeful sign that the door isn’t fully closed.

What About the Yungblud Collaboration?

Before discussing the band’s future, Perry spoke enthusiastically about the creation of One More Time, saying the last quarter of 2025 was “three months of insanity” while balancing promo shoots, rehearsals, and recording with Yungblud.

Perry said the project wasn’t preplanned — the energy between the artists simply sparked something new.

“The songs were inspired by him working with us, and us being inspired by working with him,” Perry said. “Yungblud really has the stuff.”

He also detailed the gear behind the EP, noting he used a custom Fender Vibroverb, multiple Marshall stacks, a 5150 Iconic, an Orange Terror Stamp, and at times a vintage Supro at Johnny Depp’s studio.

Perry recalled first connecting with Yungblud through their management, eventually inviting the singer to Florida. Their chemistry grew quickly as they bounced between studios in Florida and Los Angeles.

That partnership eventually led to their VMAs performance, which was suggested after Steven Tyler and Yungblud played together at an Ozzy tribute in Birmingham.

Other Aerosmith News

Aerosmith and Yungblud recently teamed with Lainey Wilson for a new version of “Wild Woman,” and also collaborated with Steve Martin for a reimagined take on “My Only Angel.” Whether more remixes or shows will follow remains unknown — much like Aerosmith’s future itself.
