Shinedown made history on Friday night (October 10), marking their first-ever performance at the legendary Grand Ole Opry — and surprising fans with the live debut of their new single, “Searchlight.” The milestone appearance blended the band’s hard-rock roots with the reverence of Nashville tradition, drawing a standing ovation from the packed house.
The evening began with a heartfelt introduction from Carrie Underwood, who told the crowd she’d been a Shinedown fan since her college days. Calling the group “excited to be here” and “deeply respectful of the Opry,” Underwood set the stage for an emotional crossover moment that few could have predicted.
Frontman Brent Smith greeted the audience with gratitude and disbelief. “This is massive for us,” he said, reflecting on the significance of performing at one of country music’s most sacred stages. “A lot of times in the good moments, you’re at a loss for words. That’s very apparent right now.”
Shinedown opened with “A Symptom of Being Human” from their 2022 album Planet Zero, followed by “Three Six Five,” a new track from their upcoming record. “Last night was a dream come true for us. Couldn’t have imagined a more perfect stage to introduce our forthcoming single ‘Searchlight’... it’s about trusting your light, even in the dark.”
