Fans of the Rolling Stones may not have to endure another long wait between records. Just a year after the release of Hackney Diamonds, guitarist Keith Richards’ son Marlon has revealed the band is already close to completing their next album.
Speaking to Record Collector magazine, Marlon shared that the group has been recording in West London. “They’re in town right now, recording… I think they’re nearly done,” he said, adding that the Stones keep late-night studio hours. “After lunch until two in the morning — unless you’re in it, it’s pretty boring!”
Marlon suggested the new material builds on leftover songs from Hackney Diamonds, which earned the Stones the Grammy for Best Rock Album earlier this year. “That recognition hyped them up. They said, ‘We can do another one like that!’” he explained.
He also hinted that fans can expect to see the band live again soon. “I think they’re planning a tour of Europe,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Wood has spoken about the group’s dynamic outside the studio, admitting that he, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards don’t socialize constantly but maintain trust in one another. Wood reflected on his longtime role as mediator between Mick and Keith, recalling moments in the 1980s when their friendship was strained. “They’re like brothers,” he said. “They may argue, but in the end, it’s family. That was the glue of the band. I had to protect the institution — it’s the Rolling Stones! No way was this going to collapse.”
With a new record on the horizon and talk of a European tour, the Stones show no signs of slowing down!
