Rockingham County officially has its very first Wawa, and the community showed up in style Friday morning (Sept. 11) for the grand opening. The new store, located at 7347 Rockingham Pike, Penn Laird, VA 22846 (near the Mount Hermon Road intersection), welcomed crowds eager to check out the popular convenience chain.

The launch included plenty of perks: the first 100 customers scored free t-shirts, and everyone who stopped in enjoyed free coffee all day long.

The Philadelphia-based chain has been steadily expanding across Virginia, with more than 100 stores now open statewide. Wawa isn’t slowing down either—another location is set to open this fall in Staunton, bringing its cult-favorite hoagies, snacks, and fuel to even more Shenandoah Valley fans.
