Radiohead Returns After 7 Years With Tour and Surprise Album

Radiohead is officially back. The band just revealed a run of 20 shows across Europe this November and December, with four nights each in Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin.

Drummer Philip Selway shared a note to fans (Sep. 3): “Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven-year pause, it felt amazing to reconnect with those songs again… It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one.”

Rumors of a reunion had been swirling for months. Fans spotted a new business filing under RHEUK25 LLP, plus “Radiohead concert” tickets popping up in a charity auction. Posters even appeared in European cities ahead of the announcement, teasing the comeback.

The group last toured in 2018 for A Moon Shaped Pool before the members branched off into side projects — Thom Yorke’s The Smile, Jonny Greenwood’s film scores, Colin Greenwood’s tour with Nick Cave, and solo albums from Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway.

Alongside the tour news, Radiohead will also drop a new live album, Hail to the Thief (Live), on October 31. Yorke said the release came after revisiting old recordings: “I was shocked by the energy… It would have been insane to keep them for ourselves.”

It’s shaping up to be a huge end of the year for Radiohead fans — and maybe just the start of what’s next.
