Former Who drummer Zak Starkey is putting the heat on Axl Rose, asking him to hand over the master recording of a track that could raise big money for charity.
The song? A loaded cover of T. Rex’s “Children of the Revolution” featuring an insane lineup — Axl, Slash, Duff McKagan, Elton John, and even Zak’s dad, Ringo Starr. It was recorded back in 2017 after Guns N’ Roses and The Who both tore up Rock in Rio, with plans for a charity album that never quite materialized.
Fast forward to now: Starkey says Axl has had the master since 2024, and the delay could be keeping as much as $2 million from the Teenage Cancer Trust.
On Instagram, Starkey laid it out bluntly: “Dear Axl Rose, please give me my master of this track back. Me and Sshh [Liguz] spent three years making this Bolan tribute for teen cancer.” He explained that the track includes space for Slash to shred, Duff to throw down a bass solo, and Elton to do his thing — but without the master, it’s stuck on the shelf.
Christie’s auction house has already estimated the recording could pull in millions for charity. “C’mon bro,” Starkey added, pushing Axl to make it happen.
This isn’t the first time Starkey has spoken out. He leaked part of the track earlier this year, writing: “Ringo/Elton/Axl/Duff/Slash. C’mon amazing people — let’s get this record out and help these teenagers who, as musicians, we rely on so much.”
Fans are still waiting to hear the full cut — and now the pressure’s on Axl to unlock what could be one of the most epic charity singles ever.
