Great Community Give, Harrisonburg and Rockingham’s greatest day of giving, is approaching quickly, on Wednesday, April 17, from 6:00am to 8:00pm.
A record number, 157 local nonprofit organizations are participating in the 7th annual giving day event. Hosted by The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County (TCFHR), Great Community Give exists to help nonprofits raise important donations and create awareness of area needs.
In celebration of the 7th anniversary, Great Community Give event organizers lowered the minimum donation requirement from $10 to $7.
“We encourage community members to give back to local causes they love for $7 or more. You can support more organizations that mean something to you, your family, your friends, and your neighbors.” – Amanda Bomfim, Director of Marketing & Initiatives, TCFHR.
Also, in celebration of seven years of local giving, Great Community Give offers first place prizes valued at $7,000 and will offer greater value cash prizes at the 7:00am and 7:00pm hours.

Great Community Give enables our community to easily give back, using a secure platform at greatcommunitygive.org for all donations to favorite local nonprofits. Donors can feel confident that their gifts made online are protected and made directly to causes of their choice. Nonprofits are also accepting cash and check donations mailed or hand-delivered directly to their physical or mailing addresses. Seven dollar or more donations must be received by 8:00pm on April 17 to be reflected in fundraising totals.
The goal of this year’s Great Community Give is to assist nonprofits raise $2 million and reach 8,000 people. Donors’ gifts help nonprofits win cash prizes generously provided by event sponsors.
