Harrisonburg School Board Names New High School

At the Harrisonburg City school board meeting Tuesday night, the board voted unanimously to name the new high school Rocktown High (formerly known as HHS2).The name Rocktown honors the original name of the city of Harrisonburg. Also decided upon at the meeting in order to enable certain pending construction decisions, the board also unanimously approved black and red as the new school's colors. No decision about a school mascot was made.

The name ultimately came from a selection process where potential names had been submitted by interested citizens earlier in the construction process.
