Following the tragic death of bassist Sam Rivers, Limp Bizkit has confirmed they will move forward with their “Gringo Papi” South American tour, turning the upcoming shows into a tribute to their late bandmate.
Event promoters Music Vibe shared the update on Instagram, confirming the band’s Nov. 29 show in Mexico City at Explanada del Estadio Banorte will go on as planned. In a translated statement, the promoter said the concert will celebrate Rivers’ legacy, noting, “Every riff and every scream will resonate in honor of the great legacy Sam offered to Nu-Metal. His energy will never cease.”
Rivers’ death was announced on Oct. 18, with the band sharing a heartfelt statement describing him as “the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.” Frontman Fred Durst later posted an emotional tribute, recalling their early days together and calling Rivers “a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human” and “a true legend.”
Durst reflected, “We rocked stadiums together, been around the world together… and I know wherever Sam is right now, he’s smiling, saying, ‘Man, I did it.’ And man, did he do it.”
The “Gringo Papi” Tour will kick off in Mexico before heading to Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, with Yungblud, 311, Ecca Vandal, Riff Raff, and Slay Squad joining as support acts. Each performance is expected to serve as a celebration of Rivers’ life and his impact on the band’s music.
