Megadeth have dropped their new single “Tipping Point,” the first track from their upcoming self-titled — and final — album, which is set to arrive on January 23.

The song is a classic Megadeth thrasher, packed with speed, aggressive riffs, fiery solos, and pounding double-bass drums. It also marks the first studio appearance of guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who stepped in for Kiko Loureiro in 2023, and the first album since 2009’s Endgame to feature bassist James LoMenzo.

The music video adds a dark visual edge, with the band performing inside a crumbling prison. Frontman Dave Mustaineis strapped into an electric chair, tormented by monsters, and chased by demons — imagery that nods to his past with Metallica’s Ride the Lightning.

Alongside the single and album news, Mustaine confirmed that Megadeth will launch a farewell world tour in support of the record. Announced in August, the tour will serve as a global celebration of the band’s decades-long impact on heavy metal. In his statement, Mustaine urged fans to join in the celebration rather than mourn, reflecting on Megadeth’s legacy of shaping metal, revolutionizing guitar playing, and inspiring generations.
