Coldplay paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne by performing Black Sabbath’s classic song Changes during their concert in Nashville on Tuesday night (July 22). Frontman Chris Martin dedicated the entire show at Nissan Stadium to the legendary rocker, who passed away earlier that day at 76.
During the performance, Martin told the crowd they were honoring Ozzy’s incredible talent and spirit, sending love to his family. After playing Changes, he added a heartfelt message: “Ozzy, we love you, wherever you’re going.” The song is famously known as a Black Sabbath ballad that Ozzy later recorded as a duet with his daughter Kelly Osbourne in 2003.
Coldplay wasn’t alone in paying respects. French metal band Gojira, who had performed at Black Sabbath’s final concert earlier this month, dedicated their song Flying Whales to Ozzy during their show in Istanbul. They also covered Black Sabbath’s Under the Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes and dedicated it to the “Crazy Train” singer, with lead vocalist Joe Duplantier saying Ozzy will live forever in their memories.
Additionally, rock legend Alice Cooper dedicated his Cardiff, Wales show to Ozzy. Just minutes before going on stage, Cooper learned about Ozzy’s passing and shared the news with fans, honoring Ozzy’s memory alongside the crowd in a heartfelt celebration of his life and impact on rock music.
