The Harrisonburg Fire Department is warning residents after a phone scammer posing as the fire department tried to solicit money from a local resident.
From the city Twitter feed: "Don’t get caught in a phone scam! Remember, the Harrisonburg Fire Department will never call you asking for your financial information or asking you to donate to a fundraiser. If you ever receive a call from someone posing as a member of HFD, call 540-432-7703 to verify the info"
