WTVR: A Notoway County man is recovering from a direct lightning strike. The incident put 52 year old Bobby Pridemore in the hospital. He had been moving cows on his farm near Crewe, VA, Friday evening when lightning struck a metal gate and charged a barbed wire fence near where he was standing. Reports say that Pridemore's right hand and right hip were touching the fence about 200 yards from where lightning hit the gate. He suffered and electric shock.
The strike sent Pridemore flying backwards from the fence. His wife and daughter heard the boom. They tried Pridemore on the phone and he was able to respond.
