Woman Drops Apple Watch on EPCOT Ride, Has $40,000 Credit Card Charges

WDW Today: A woman lost her watch on a ride at EPCOT last month. That innocent mistake cost more than $40,000. Here’s what happened, according to the report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was fidgeting with her Apple watch while she rode the slow-moving The Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction on April 13. The ride was in an elevated position, the woman said, at the worst possible time when the watch popped off her wrist.

Her husband attempted to retrieve the watch but also could not reach it. Disney ride workers came over and said they could see it and would retrieve it and return it to her hotel.

The woman said the watch was not returned and the credit cards attached to the watch, including an AMEX card with no limit, rang up over $40,000 in fraudulent charges before she could get them disconnected from the watch.

She has reported the fraud to Orange CO, FL police.
