One type of ice cream sold at Walmart was just recalled because of labeling issues as it may contain undeclared peanuts and could cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.
The Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream from Turkey Hill usually does not contain peanuts, but a consumer contacted the company after discovering their container contained what appeared to be the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream, the recall announcement posted by the FDA says.
The containers were sold in over 400 Walmart stores in six states including, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
The recall notice says that only 385 of the 48-ounce containers of the affected ice cream have been purchased by consumers between April 14 and 19. Although Turkey Hill says all retail stores that received the product were instructed to remove it from grocery store floors immediately, some of these could still be in customers' freezers, since the sell-by date printed on the bottom of the package is 03/02/2023.
