Harrisonburg planning a "reverse" holiday parade this year

From an email from Harrisonburg Parks and Rec:

Unfortunately, we will be unable to hold our traditional Holiday Parade traveling on Main Street in downtown Harrisonburg. However, we are attempting a safe alternative, a reverse parade in Westover Park on Friday, December 4. Essentially, parade participants would park their floats/vehicles in the parking lot and community members would drive through looking at the decorated floats. Setup would take place between 4:30-5:30pm and the community would drive through between 5:30-7:30pm. We would be limiting the number of people per float/vehicle as well as limiting it to 1 float/vehicle per group. We aren’t able to accommodate walking groups this year and giveaways will not be allowed.

If you would like to participate, please let me know by 5pm on Wednesday, October 21. I will reach back out to all interested groups at the end of next week. The number of floats will be lower than previous years due to spacing in the parking lot. We only have space for about 30 floats, but we will have a minimum in place as well. If we don’t reach the minimum, then we will have to cancel altogether.

In a follow up email this morning, they have extended the entry deadline until 11/6
