Forest Fire Southeast Of Harrisonburg - Prescribed Burn Operations

Forest Service Conducting Prescribed Burn Operations in theHone Quarry Ridge Area in Rockingham County, Virginia

Location: This 5700 acre burn is located along Hone Quarry Ridge in Rockingham County, Virginia

Date and Time: Ignition will begin on Tuesday 05/01/2018 and will continue through Wednesday 05/02/2018. The area may continue to burn and smoke may be visible for a week or more. We will continue to monitor the area.

Additional Information:This prescribed burn is a continuation of the Hone Quarry Burn the Forest Service began on April 20, 2018. Approximately 2,500 acres are targeted to complete this burn. Use caution while driving SR 924 as firefighters will be working alongside this road. Expect delays and possible smoke along SR 924.The following trails located in the burn area will be closed until further notice:430 Big Hollow; 435 Hone Quarry Mountain; 435A Heartbreak; 435 B Mines Run
