Tony Iommi, Robert Plant Among Artists Donating To MusiCares Auction

A number of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are donating memorabilia to an upcoming charity auction to benefit the MusiCares charity.

The MusiCares Charity Relief Auction will take place Wednesday, September 9, in Beverly Hills and online at JuliensAuctions.com. Advanced bidding starts Monday, August 17.

One of the auction's headlining items is a Gibson SG Standard 1961 guitar in vintage cherry signed by two of the world's most consequential heavy rock innovators, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant.

Other big-ticket items include a Paul Reed Smith Carlos Santana Abraxas SE limited edition guitar, signed by Santana himself.

There's an Ozzy Osbourne stage-worn outfit, including a 'Gene Meyer New York' shirt with a red crystal cross, matching pants and Oliver Peoples round silver metal glasses.

Ronnie Wood has donated a signed Decades 50s silk screen print of his artwork and Eric Clapton has contributed a signed denim shirt.

The Sept. 9 auction is open to the public, but registration is required for anyone who wants to bid.

MusiCares provides a range of critical assistance for music people in need, including financial, medical and personal emergencies with the aim of safeguarding the health and welfare of the music community.
