Gilby Clarke Turned Down Offer to Rejoin Guns N' Roses

Gilby Clarke Turned Down Offer to Rejoin Guns N' Roses

They say there's nothing like the joy of being a parent, and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke is well aware that his daughter will only grow up once.

Not even a big paycheck from what became one of the most profitable tours in recent history could keep the guitarist from attending a major event in his daughter's life.

Clarke told Eddie Trunk in a recent interview the real reason he turned down a reunion with GNR.

"...[T]hey asked me, but you know my daughter Frankie has a band [Frankie + the Studs]," Clarke explained. "...They asked me the same day my daughter's band was playing Lollapalooza, which was like the biggest break for her band and stuff. It was the same day they were playing Lollapalooza and I had to be there, and I couldn't really give that up to go be the third guitar player in [Guns N' Roses]."

Best Dad mug = earned.

While Clarke expected the reunion to be a success with tons of sold-out shows, he's surprised that Guns N' Roses was still breaking records over 30 years into its career

"To be honest, I didn't think that it would last this long and do this well," he said. "I definitely didn't expect that."

Clarke doesn't talk often with his former band mates, but he says he's on good terms with all of them.

"I have nothing against [returning to GNR]," he clarified. "It's just that it didn't work out for me."
