Ex-Molly Hatchet Front Man Jimmy Farrar Dies at 68

Ex-Molly Hatchet Singer Jimmy Farrar Dies at 68

Jimmy Farrar, who fronted Molly Hatchet from 1980 - 1982 has died, the band has confirmed.

He was 68 years old.

According to a Molly Hatchet fan page, Farrar died at 6:30 a.m. Monday after suffering congestive heart failure, kidney and liver failure.

Reports say Farrar was ailing for some time before his passing and apparently suffered three heart attacks just last year, before undergoing bypass surgery in May 2017.

Farrar's tenure was short but accomplished in the band's near-50-year history. He performed lead vocals on the band's platinum-selling Beatin' The Odds album from 1980 and its Take No Prisoners album from 1981.

The singer quit Molly Hatchet after reportedly becoming disillusioned with the band's lifestyle on the road, and his desire to be home and raise a family.

After leaving Molly Hatchet, Farrar sang in PredatorSection 8, the Southern Rock All-Stars, and a band called Gator Country, which was made up of former members of Molly Hatchet.
