Former Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King has passed away at the age of 68. He played with the band in the early 70's and returned in the mid 80's, staying through 1996 when he left due to congestive heart failure. Ed had a heart transplant in 2011, and it was said that he recently had been battling cancer. Ed co-wrote "Sweet Home Alabama" and also had played with the band Strawberry Alarm Clock co-writing their hit "Incense and Peppermints."
